Stansted Country Garden

The Client

A 50 something professional couple having significant & tasteful improvements to  their substantial detached house in Stansted, Essex.  Keen gardeners, not afraid of more planting.

The Challenge 

​

The brief for Quercus was to keep the informal curves of the garden, better integrate the indoor & outdoor spaces, create a generous entertaining area & add lots more colour.

 

The Solution

​

The generously proportioned terrace provides ample relaxation space for even the best attended gatherings.  The retaining walls of raised borders, incorporating the water blade, offer additional occasional seating.

The traditional hard-landscaping materials of red brick & light-coloured sandstone paving are absolutely in keeping with the Essex-barn look.

A wide curved brick path, with long shallow steps (& a challenging bespoke curved & stepped fence) provides an alternative route to the terraced areas.
